Sr. Scientist, Analytical Development, Process Analytics
Role:
The Senior Scientist, Process Analytics will be responsible for technical and strategic planning and execution of all analytical activities supporting process development. This team within Technical Development will lead fit for purpose method development and support testing for, but not limited to, in process and product assays for B cell medicine, the expressed protein, and process impurities. They will contribute to process improvements by driving supporting analytical assays like cell health assays and leverage high throughput methods to drive efficiency. They also play a critical role in manufacturing troubleshooting, root cause investigation, and support tech transfer of processes to manufacturing with in-process assay sampling plans. This individual will also act as a technical subject matter expert for flow cytometry and cell counting methods. You will improve and execute efficient processes and procedures including sample testing, data management, report writing, and documentation for important studies to support the portfolio. This is a great opportunity to develop and mentor a high-performing team of scientists with a vision of setting industry-leading scientific standards in a growing function that will require hands-on work to instruct and build the necessary skills within the group while leading day-to-day group activities including timeline and budget management and objective setting and execution.
Responsibilities:
- Optimize Process Analytics Platform across portfolio projects, including coordination of team activities
- Act as SME for cell counting and flow cytometry methods to support robust methods and troubleshooting activities
- Ensure consistent method development and data generation supporting aligned priorities
- Assure appropriate laboratory controls and procedures for training, sample management, data integrity, reagent and equipment
- Work with Research, Process Development, and MSAT to assure successful process and analytical transfers to GMP settings
- Partner with other Technical Development Teams to support portfolio and evaluate new methodologies

- BS or MS in science with 5-10 years of relevant industry experience or PhD in life sciences with 2-4 years of industry experience Prior experience with Cellular Therapy product development is highly desirable
- Prior experience with process analytics, and oversight of others’ work expected
- Management, mentoring and development experience
- 4+ years’ experience with method development and execution of flow cytometry and cell counting to enable SME role for these specific analyses
- Demonstrated technical capabilities to lead initiatives independently (root cause investigations, novel development projects, etc)
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills
- Independently motivated, detailed oriented and a good problem-solving ability
- Exceptional teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate others, influence, and negotiate difficult situations
- Hire and mentor staff and champion inclusive culture
- Demonstrate care and appreciation for staff as a foundation for developing an exceptional team
- Establish and effectively manage department annual operating budgets
