Sr. Engineer II / Principal Engineer, Process Development
Be Biopharma is seeking an experienced Engineer for the Process Development team. Team members will work within Process Development, establishing production methods of novel autologous and allogeneic B Cell Medicines. The candidate will be a scientific leader in the laboratory, leading by example and challenging the status quo to foster continuous improvement in the laboratory. Responsibilities for this role include designing and executing complex process development studies. The candidate will routinely develop sound scientific hypotheses and create the appropriate experimental plan and data analysis strategy to execute against in support of larger project initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop upstream process development experiments; understanding and experience with downstream process development is a plus
- Directly optimize diverse aspects of cell therapy process development across a wide range of technologies – from flasks to bioreactors
- Analyze process analytics ranging from drug product release attributes to process and product related impurity clearance
- As a scientifically minded leader, demonstrate the appropriate technical direction from the bench and through strong data analysis and interpretation. Develop creative approaches to challenging problems both directly assigned and beyond the direct assignments.
- Present and communicate study results at company meetings.
- Document and communicate results in a timely manner including authoring and reviewing electronic laboratory notebooks and SOPs to support process development
- Keep current with professional developments and publications in cell therapy process development areas
Experience, Education, Specialized Knowledge, and Skills:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell & Molecular Biology, or related discipline.
- 1-3 years of prior Post-doc or industry experience in process development required. Industry experience with cell therapy/cell differentiation a plus
- Strong industrial upstream processing knowledge required with understanding of the data package required to advance processes into clinical manufacturing. Ability to apply theoretical expertise to directly assigned projects and department objectives
- Prior mammalian cell culture (HEK293, CHO, T cell culture, B cell culture) experience required. Prior experience with GraphPad Prism, JMP, and FlowJo desired
- Ability to solve complex problems and to work effectively as a detail-oriented individual. Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment expected with ability to manage a single, large complex project or multiple moderately complex projects and assignments
